Shawano Lake Beach House History

The Beach House, now situated on a quiet side road among other cottages, began as a log cabin. In 1910 it was pulled by horses across a frozen Shawano Lake to its present location.

My family has owned the property just east of the Beach House since the early 1900’s. A great uncle, Daniel Pulcifer, became the first mayor of Shawano in 1876, and, although I grew up in the Milwaukee area, I have wonderful memories of summer vacations at the lake. Now that I am retired from Columbia Hospital, where I worked for 20 years as an occupational therapist and rehab director, I enjoy reliving those times with my children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

The Beach House property was purchased and remodeled by my parents in 1986 and provided both a retirement home for them and overflow for guests. It has been lovingly updated and is now available to those looking for a peaceful, private get-away.
